The Bad
Bread & Fred

All three games in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from May 2024 scored 60/100. So none of them are bad games, but all of them are very flawed games. Bread & Fred is a local co-op vertical 2D platformer about two penguins climbing a mountain. The concept is great, but some of the platforming physics were frustrating to navigate. Our reviewer concluded “at its core, the game struggles to balance challenge with enjoyment”. That being said, anyone looking for a co-op 2D platformer might still want to check out Bread & Fred.
Dark Envoy: Director’s Cut

Dark Envoy: Director’s Cut is an isometric CRPG. Although it’s pretty generic, there are lots of solid aspects. But the game is so full of bugs! It’s shocking that a title labelled as a “director’s cut” could still have this many technical issues. Our reviewer noted “the class system and skill trees lend themselves to interesting character builds and adventure party variety”. Hopefully the game can be patched to let these qualities shine. But a game with this many technical issues is likely gonna end up in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from May 2024.
Endless Ocean: Luminous
Endless Ocean: Luminous is a game all about swimming in the ocean, checking out wildlife, and chillin’ with the underwater vibes. The problem is that the gameplay is essentially a monotonous mission of scanning everything you come across. Our reviewer wrote “the actual gameplay loop is a murderous grind with no relief in sight”. Harsh words. But if the game was just about relaxing and experiencing the world, it might be a great, chill way to pass the time. As it stands, Endless Ocean: Luminous needs to figure out its gameplay goals.
