The Bad
Dungeons of Hinterberg

Dungeons of Hinterberg is an action RPG structured similarly to Persona. The setting is an Austrian vacation town, where people can dungeon crawl during the day, and vacation at night. The night-time social activities all lead to helpful things such as items, abilities, and information. Our reviewer wrote “It’s an interesting premise, but ultimately it’s a thin narrative veneer over pretty standard ARPG gameplay”. But Dungeons of Hinterberg still scored 72/100. It’s the highest scoring game of The Bad section in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is a Soulslike action RPG. It’s got some really interesting ideas, like dual protagonists, and fast-paced gun/ magic combat. Unfortunately, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn lacks the polish found in FromSoftware’s games. Our reviewer concluded “Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is worth playing, especially for casual RPG fans. Hardcore Soulslike players will find it harder to ignore the game’s missteps and flaws”. The game scored 70/100, and is another good game in The Bad section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.
Hot Lap Racing

Hot Lap Racing is an arcade-style racing game. It doesn’t necessarily do anything wrong, but it just doesn’t stack up against other modern racers. Its visuals don’t shine, and its light on features. But it plays well. Our reviewer noted “Hot Lap Racing would like to be the next great Switch racing game”. On a console with less racing options, Hot Lap racing becomes much more desirable. But it was reviewed on PC. Even though Hot Lap Racing scored 60/100, it is the lowest rated game on The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.
