Almost none of the games in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024 were featured in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in July 2024. Except for the #1 game! The rest of the games featured in this article are surprises. The lowest scoring game in July still got 60/100, which is a good score. Don’t sleep on Total War: Pharoah – Dynasties, which scored 90/100, but won’t be covered in this article because there were too many other high-scoring titles. The Good
Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition

Beyond Good & Evil was originally released for PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. It’s a third person adventure game, similar to 3D Legend of Zelda titles. Its world building, photography mechanics, and excellent writing made it a cult classic. A sequel has been in the works a long time, and thankfully Ubisoft has given us access to this original on modern consoles. Our reviewer wrote that Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition “retains the look and feel of the original, while providing some much-needed improvements like resolution, frame rate, controls and more”. This near perfect remaster is an easy nomination of The Good section of The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.
Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail DLC

Final Fantasy XIV’s long-running story ended with its Endwalker expansion. Square Enix described Dawntrail, the first expansion since Endwalker, as a “summer vacation” between major story arcs. But its story ended up exceeding all expectations! Dawntrail also featured a much-needed graphical upgrade, and two new job classes. Our reviewer called Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail “the best single player MMO today”. It was the most anticipated game featured in The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.

Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon- is a visual novel by Type-Moon, the creators of Fate/Stay Night. Its complex narrative is about a guy who murders someone, who turns out to be a vampire, and gets enlisted by that vampire to hunt another vampire. For those who have never played a visual novel, Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon- is like a text novel, with branching paths, still images, and music. Our reviewer noted that this is a remake that “expands the narrative, and updates the classic story with a modern setting, updated Fate-consistent lore, and a much higher budget”. Tsukihime -A Piece of Blue Glass Moon- is the highest-scored game on The Three Best (and Worst) Video Games from July 2024.
