NieR Replicant Wristwatch Impressions
It’s not every day I get to write up some impressions about a video game watch, but here I am and hey, I’m always up for a challenge. I’m by no means an expert on watches, I can’t even tell you how they are made and I am probably nowhere near qualified to give you a proper assessment. I’m the perfect man for the job, right? Probably not, yet I will say, I do love a good-looking and durable watch. And this NieR Replicant watch from SuperGroupies is right up my alley.
SuperGroupies is best known for creating clothing and accessories based on popular anime, manga, and gaming properties. They have a massive line of watches available from some of your favorite games and franchises like Resident Evil, Magic: The Gathering, and Cyberpunk 2077. Not only do the watches look fantastic, but they can be worn for any occasion. I’d have no problem wearing this NieR Replicant watch at a formal function or just casually at work.
Perfectly Timed
These watches don’t scream cheap gimmicky video game watches either. In fact, if you didn’t tell me this was a NieR watch, I’d never know. It doesn’t look cheap at all and the entire line has a classy look. This black NieR Replicant looks super sharp. It may be a little smaller than most watches I wear. I do prefer the big beefy bulky ones, but this is without question an average or rather normal-sized watch that would not only look great on anybody. Even smaller folks, like my tiny wife, won’t feel awkward wearing this watch out in the public.
All the features are subtle too, paying a nice tribute to the game, and main character, NieR in a fashionable way. You really don’t need to be a fan of the franchise to enjoy this watch or really any of the items Supergroupies offers.
This subtle and professional chronograph watch is inspired by Nier. It’s got all-black straps and a black-and-silver watch face. It’s equipped with 24-hour, 60-minute, and 60-second subdials. Its black finish shines with glints of silver from the metallic parts embedded in the leather strap. The watch engravings are inspired by Nier’s outfit.
I should also note that in a circle along the hour markers is a metallic design inspired by intricate details found on Grimoire Weiss. It’s a super sexy watch and the attention to detail is quite stunning. The watch really nails the franchise aesthetic and it’s quite clear all the materials used in the construction of the watch are high quality.
I’m not a fan of leather straps on watches, so will be swapping out the existing strap for a stainless steel strap. Currently, the watch goes for around $200, but that isn’t a bad price point at all when you consider the craftsmanship and quality of the watch. It’s quite easily a watch you can wear in style for the next 10 years or so.
You’ve Got Options
This watch isn’t the only NieR watch available either. There is one based on Kaine and inspired by the colors of Kaine’s outfit, which we will tell you about in the near future, but there is another set based on 2B and 9S from NieR Automata. Again, NieR Automata takes inspiration from the characters we all know and love.
Overall, I’m loving this NieR Replicant watch. It’s much better quality than I expected and the price point is reasonable when you consider the quality of the watch. It’s hard to find online, so if you are able to snag one, congrats, you’ve got lucky.
