Part 5: New Stuff To Do, and People To… Uhh… Do It With
Never mind the innuendo in the title – these mods have nothing to do with doing it. Instead, I’ve compiled a list of fantastic follower mods and marvellous quest mods that bring Skyrim to life, and occasionally take you out of Skyrim completely. Let’s do this!
Follower Mods:
Vilja was also a popular mod in Oblivion – the Skyrim version is fully voice acted and location aware, and has a nicely fleshed out back story. A great addition to any stable of followers.
Cerwiden is a white mage with a whole quest line of her own, but more importantly she has super advanced battle AI, capable of intelligently buffing and healing you and your other followers. A great mod.
Sofia is a great companion to take on adventures. For one, she’s kind of funny! She boasts about herself, gets drunk, and has grade A voice acting. An excellent option.
Inigo might be my favourite follower mod. He comments on damn near everything with surprising insight and variety, and is handy to have in battle. He’s also a blue cat – win!
A complete badass with a big axe. Also includes a super custom visual style and great voice work. If you’re heading into battle, consider Hoth.
A dark elf in a land against dark elves, Atvir is an extremely interesting follower to interact with, but also useful in battle.
Quest Mods:
You’ve probably heard of this mod. It adds 10+ hours of lore friendly content in a completely new environment. Oh, and one person made it (with some help). It’s extremely well done.
Helgen is the town decimated by Dragons at the beginning of the game. This mod allows you to rebuild the town through a series of nicely done and fully voice acted quests.
A giant quest mod with 17 new quests, new landscapes, and bunches of new dialogue and story pieces. Seriously, the quality here is damn good.
Explore the Khajiit homeland of Elsweyr in this massive mod. The landscapes, textures, creatures, and quests are brand new, and super well done.
This mod is only a month old, but is blowing minds already on the Skyrim Nexus. A huge 10 hour quest that takes you to another region of Cyrodiil, and has some unbelievably good design and texture work in it. Seriously.
Finally, we have a mod that tells the Blades to shove it. You know that choice you have to make near the end of Skyrim that is stupid all the way around? Well, now you won’t have to.
And that’s it! A fully modified and darn near unrecognizable version of Skyrim with hundreds of hours of content you’ve never seen before. Have other mods you love? Tell us about them here or on Twitter!
