Tekken 8’s Character Pass 2 Starts with a Bang!
Season 1 was a success, bringing back fan-favorites like Eddy and Heihachi while introducing newer characters like Lidia Sobieska from Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. Even featuring an unexpected crossover with Final Fantasy XVI, adding Clive to the battlefield, it managed to meet expectations of fans. Now, with Season 2 kicking off, players are eager to see if Bandai Namco can continue to meet the high bar set. Starting with a staple of the series, the new Character Pass is shaping up to be an exciting addition.
A staple of the franchise and younger sister of Nina, Anna Williams, has been part of almost every iteration of Tekken. Although at a glance, she may appear similar to her sister, the Scarlet Lightning is a deep and complex character. Following the Assaination Arts fighting style, her attacks possess a brutal edge which adds to her dark demeanor. During combos, she seamlessly intertwines weapons, allowing you to vary your approach to battles.
More Ahead
In addition to Anna, the Character Pass will feature two more returning fighters and a brand-new contender joining the Iron Fist Tournament. With so many iconic warriors still absent from Tekken 8, I’m eager to see who makes the cut. Personally, I’m hoping for the return of the kung-fu cop, Lei Wulong. His ability to seamlessly switch between styles like Crane, Snake, and Drunken Boxing not only highlights his uniqueness but also adds a dynamic, cinematic flair to every battle.
Two new stages are also due to launch during the season, with one unconfirmed and the other celebrating the anniversary of Pac-Man. There has always been an underlying element of humour with the franchise and due to this, I’m excited to see how Bandai Namco commemorates the iconic yellow circle in the game. As the stages released as part of the previous pack were brimming with detail, including a huge battle in the background in the Final Fantasy-themed area, I’m expecting big things. Tie this in with a plethora of customization accessories planned, there are plenty of reasons to be jumping back into Tekken 8.
Who’s Next?
Season 2’s Character Pass has started strong. Anna is already a staple of the series and her implementation in the latest release is brilliant. Combining this with two other returning characters and a brand new one, fans of the series will no doubt be picking up this DLC.
