Xbox One gamers have a lot to be excited about in 2014. The first half of the year looks to be amazing and the second half even better. If you missed part 1 of our list be sure to check it out as it details what Xbox One gamers can look forward to in Q1 and Q2. Here we’ll take a look at Q3 and Q4 and some games with release dates still to be announced. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for part 1 of our PS4 list in the next few days as well as our look at some of the great indie games in development for both next gen consoles.
THE CREW – Q3 2014
Ubisoft’s upcoming open world racer looks like it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun. We got a chance to hit the throttle at E3 this year and despite being early in development it still looked really solid. Releasing sometime in Q3 it has an interesting single player campaign that will have the player infiltrating some sort of criminal organizations and of course a robust multiplayer mode. This will likely be on the list of games to play for anyone who’s a fan of arcade racers.
DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION – Q3 2014
Dragon Age: Origins was hands down one of the best RPGs to hit consoles last generation. DA2 was alright but as a whole not as well received. Inquisition, the third installment in the franchise, looks to set the series back on track heading into the next generation. Bioware are some of the best when it comes to console RPGs so it’s unlikely they’ll be dropping the ball on this one.
THE EVIL WITHIN – TBA 2014
Shinji Mikami, the godfather of survival horror, is back alongside Tango Gameworks and Bethesda to bring gamers The Evil Within. We got to see the game up close and personal way back in May at an exclusive preview event and can promise you that it is pant shittingly scary! Following Detective Sebastian Castellanos, gamers will be taken on a terrifying journey facing horrifying monsters and Sebastian’s own worst fears. BUY DIAPERS.
WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER – TBA 2014
BJ Blazkowicz is back and more badass than ever in a post war world where the Germans have won the war. The FPS that started it all is looking to make its triumphant return to the top of the heap and after spending some serious time playing it back in May we can promise you that it looks great. One of our most anticipated games for 2014, we can’t wait to get our hands on the finished product.
THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT – TBA 2014
Geralt of Rivia is set to conclude the Witcher Trilogy in CD Projekt RED’s final (as far as we know at least) installment in the successful Witcher series. From cult following to bonafide RPG success story Geralt has built a loyal following of gamers that are frothing at the mouth to get their hands on this one. One of our very own got some serious time with the game down at E3 this year and summed up her thoughts on it. It won her game of show award so it definitely impressed.
FANTASIA: MUSIC EVOLVED – TBA 2014
Harmonix has arguably given us the best use of the Kinect so far with its Dance Central series. Harnessing the power of Kinect 2.0 they look to make an impression on gamers with their new motion controlled rhythm game Fantasia: Music Evolved. Partnering with Disney Interactive they bring to life one of Disney’s most beloved films in a whole new way.
FINAL FANTASY XV – TBA 2014
When you talk about RPG series with one hell of a legacy behind them you can’t ignore Final Fantasy. The fifteenth game in the main series it looks to be a bit darker and a bit more realistic with more believable characters than we’ve become used to in the FF universe. Expect stunning visuals and jaw dropping cut scenes which is the norm for this storied franchise.
DYING LIGHT – TBA 2014
Dying Light is a first-person, action survival horror game set in a vast and dangerous open world. During the day, players traverse an expansive urban environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population. At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. Players must use everything in their power to survive until the morning’s first light. We got our zombie fix with Dying Light at E3 this year and left being pretty impressed.
VALIANT HEARTS: THE GREAT WAR – TBA 2014
Valiant Hearts is a puzzle adventure game that is inspired by letters written during the Great War and turns around four strangers entering the battlefield to help a young German soldier find his love in a story about survival, sacrifice and friendship. One of the most talked about games coming out of E3 this past June due to its compelling story and gorgeous art direction this is on the watch list of many gamers for 2014.
CHILD OF LIGHT – TBA 2014
Apparently Ubisoft wasn’t done creating huge buzz at E3 with Valiant Hearts and its unique art style because Child of Light received just as much attention. A mix of platforming and RPG the game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night. Helped by her playable companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.
TOM CLANCY’S THE DIVISION – TBA 2014
What’s that? Ubisoft STILL wasn’t done rocking the socks off of gamers at E3 this year? We certainly left impressed after seeing it ourselves. A devastating pandemic sweeps through New York City, and one by one, basic services fail. In only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos. The Division, a classified unit of self-supported tactical agents, is activated. Leading seemingly ordinary lives among us, The Division agents are trained to operate independently of command, as all else fails. Fighting to prevent the fall of society, the agents will find themselves caught up in an epic conspiracy, forced to combat not only the effects of a manmade virus, but also the rising threat of those behind it. When everything collapses, your mission begins.
THE LEGO MOVIE VIDEOGAME – TBA 2014
You can’t get much more self-explanatory than this game’s title can you. Based on the upcoming LEGO movie TT Games hopes to bring gamers another successful game based on the toy bricks we all know and love.
TRIALS FUSION – TBA 2014
Trials fans get their next gen fix with the upcoming Trials Fusion. Designed to interact with the Trials Frontier smartphone app/game the physics based motorcycle game should be a hit with fans of the franchise.
HALO – TBA 2014
Halo (Xbox One) is an upcoming Halo game, introduced during Microsoft’s E3 2013 presentation as the second chapter in the John-117 storyline of the Reclaimer Saga, and the sequel to Halo 4. Few details have been released regarding the game or its plot. One of the biggest ‘HOLY CRAP!’ moments of the MS presser this is no doubt one of the most hotly anticipated games for the Xbox One console.
LORDS OF THE FALLEN – TBA 2014
There isn’t a lot of information out there for this one apart from it being an action RPG game developed by Deck13 and CI Games.
SUNSET OVERDRIVE – TBA 2014
Easily one of the most vibrant and entertaining reveals at E3 we’re very much looking forward to the release of Sunset Overdrive. A catastrophic event has left your city overrun by mutants, but while most perish or transform, you flourish. It turns out your calling isn’t picking up trash or serving food, it’s mutant destruction.
MAD MAX – TBA 2014
One of the most iconic sci-fi characters of all time gets the videogame treatment and after what we saw at E3 we’ve gotta say that we can’t bloody well wait. Play as Mad Max, a lone warrior who must embark on a dangerous journey after his Interceptor is stolen by a deadly gang of marauders. A reluctant hero with an instinct for survival, Max wants nothing more than to leave the madness behind and find solace in the storied “Plains of Silence”.
SNIPER ELITE 3 – TBA 2014
Scope junkies will finally get their fix sometime in late 2014 with Sniper Elite 3. Following a lackluster turnout with Sniper Elite 2 however, this game has a lot to prove.
KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE – TBA 2015
Not much is known about this first person Warhorse Studios open world RPG. Set in medieval Europe we’ve only recently seen this teaser trailer.
QUANTUM BREAK – TBA
Developed by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios, Quantum Break will feature live-action TV blended with regular gameplay. The game was revealed with a teaser trailer during the Xbox One reveal event at E3 in June and we finally got to see a little bit more at the recent video game awards. Set in the fictional North Eastern U.S. Riverport University, Quantum Break follows the three main characters Beth Wilder, Jack Joyce and Paul Serene through a winding tale of a time travel experiment gone wrong which has given them amazing abilities. There’s a lot of hype riding on this game and a whole lot of unanswered questions as to how the TV and gameplay will fit in with each other. Regardless, for Xbox One owners this is likely to be one of the most eagerly awaited games on the list.
KINGDOM HEARTS 3 – TBA
One of the most beloved franchises in Sony history makes its multiplatform debut and eager fans can’t wait to get their hands on it. It’s amazing how a game based on Disney characters can have such a large draw to some fairly hardcore gamers. Join Sora, Donald Duck, Goofy, Riku and more on what will surely be a masterful journey.
