Aura Aspen Digital Frame is a Stunner
I’ve had an Aura frame for a couple of years now, and I absolutely love it. I even got one for my mom, and she loves it too. At first glance, it might look like any other digital frame, but what sets it apart is its quality and ease of use. I can instantly share photos with my mom via the Aura app, and the image quality is so impressive that it’s become a permanent fixture in our home, and one of my favorite little tech devices.
As an avid gamer, I don’t typically use it to display screenshots or gameplay videos, but I could, and I have no doubt they’d look fantastic. That’s part of why I’m writing about it on a video game website. I believe there’s a market for the tech-savvy gamer. That said, you don’t have to be very tech-savvy to use it. I love my mom, but she’s far from a tech wizard, and she figured it out on her own with no trouble.
On June 16, Aura will bring its latest digital photo frame to the Canadian market – the Aspen. Compared to my other Aura frame, this one is a standout. The Aspen is one of the brand’s thinnest models to date, and it’s thoughtfully designed. It combines Aura’s responsive, high-quality display with a clean, minimalist aesthetic. It’s eye-catching and looks fantastic on our shelf.
At only 0.5 inches thick, the Aspen is remarkably slim, giving it the feel of a traditional photo frame rather than a clunky tech gadget. Its paper-textured matting and narrow bezel enhance the illusion. The design is subtle, but its organic, modern look fits perfectly into minimalist spaces, like my kitchen TV room area. It definitely gives off the vibe of a high-end product.
I especially love the 4:3 aspect ratio, which happens to match the default format for most smartphone cameras. Why does that matter? It means your photos appear exactly as they were intended with no black bars, no awkward cropping, and just full-frame pictures and videos, as they were captured. Whether it’s a beach photo from your vacation, a selfie, or a concert clip, everything looks great on the Aspen’s 1600 x 1200 anti-glare HD screen.
What makes the Aspen more than just a pretty face is its connectivity. Like other Aura frames, it’s powered by the Aura app, which lets you upload and manage content from anywhere. The app is intuitive and easy to use. Granted, occasionally it takes a little time for photos to appear on the frame itself, but once they do, the results are stunning. You can even invite friends and family to contribute, creating a gallery of shared memories. With unlimited cloud storage and no subscription fees, the value is clear.
At $299 CAD, the Aura Aspen is definitely on the premium side, but it earns its place. There are certainly cheaper options out there, but the Aspen delivers where it counts. With its elegant design, smart formatting, and seamless sharing features, it’s a sleek and stylish way to keep your favourite memories alive and on display.
