Welcome to the Bizarre World of Disciple
Angry Goblin Games has released the demo for Disciple, a bizarre new roguelite that mixes Peggle-inspired pachinko physics with Vampire Survivors-style combat and eldritch horror. The demo is now available on Steam ahead of the game’s planned 2027 release.
Disciple puts players in control of a chosen Disciple and sends them plunging into the Abyss. As they descend, players bounce through crystals, portals, and swarms of horrifying creatures while adjusting their trajectory and collecting valuable essence.
The demo features three playable characters: The Templar, The Seer, and The Scorched. Players can take on the Hollow map and test their skills in Vigil, a dedicated score-attack mode. There are also plenty of artefacts to experiment with, along with additional unlocks for those willing to explore further.
Buildcrafting plays a major role in each run. Players can combine offensive artefacts to create different builds and pair them with sacred runes to unlock evolved versions with significantly stronger or completely altered effects. Each Disciple also comes with a unique starter artefact and build tree, encouraging different playstyles.
The game takes players through a dying world filled with withered sanctuaries, frozen ruins, and increasingly warped regions consumed by the Abyss. Collect enough crystallised essence to be reborn and descend again, or fall short and become another victim.
With its unusual blend of pachinko physics, roguelite progression, and horror, Disciple already has an intriguing formula. The new demo gives players a chance to see how it all comes together before the full game arrives in 2027.
