Embark On an Epic Expedition in the Mound: Omen of Cthulhu
NACON and ACE Team have officially launched The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, a new co-op horror adventure that is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game also supports full crossplay, allowing players across all platforms to team up from day one.
Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Mound, the game takes players to an uncharted continent during the Conquistador era. You and up to three other explorers set out in search of a legendary city said to hold unimaginable riches. However, every expedition quickly turns into a fight for survival as terrifying creatures and mysterious supernatural forces stand in your way.
Before each mission, your squad selects a contract that determines the expedition’s objectives. While collecting treasure and valuable resources is the main goal, the jungle itself poses the greatest threat. As your sanity slowly fades, hallucinations begin to distort reality, making it difficult to distinguish friend from foe. Fallen teammates can even become corrupted, forcing survivors to battle members of their own expedition.
Communication plays a major role in survival thanks to the game’s proximity voice chat system. Players must stay close together, manage limited resources, and carefully use period-accurate weapons such as bows, crossbows, and arquebuses. At launch, the game features four playable characters, 18 handcrafted maps, and a progression system that unlocks new areas by recovering the journals of previous expeditions.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is available now digitally, while physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will arrive on August 6.
If you’re looking for a co-op horror experience that blends teamwork with psychological terror, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu looks like a promising adventure worth exploring with friends.
