Unholy Horrors Awaits in Besmirch
Besmirch has officially stepped into Early Access on Steam, with developer Gangru Games and publisher 2 Left Thumbs bringing the dark farming sim to players for $9.99. To mark the launch, the game is currently available at a 20% discount for a limited two-week window.
At this stage, players can experience a full in-game yearly cycle, though only Autumn and Winter feature active story content. Depending on playstyle, the Early Access build offers roughly 6 to 12 hours of gameplay. The current version already includes a wide mix of mechanics such as farming, cooking, resource management, combat gear, and exploration across dungeons and caves. Players can also interact with a town filled with NPCs while working to repair and sustain the struggling settlement.
Set in a bleak and isolated village, Besmirch places players in the role of a newly hired farmhand tasked with keeping the town alive. Crops are difficult to grow, supplies are scarce, and each decision carries weight. Players must balance survival, sharing resources with the townsfolk, and meeting the Baron’s demands, all while facing supernatural threats that emerge during recurring periods of darkness.
Looking ahead, the developers plan to expand the experience with features like fishing, additional seasonal content, more bosses, and extended storylines beyond winter.
Overall, Besmirch presents a promising blend of survival, simulation, and dark storytelling, with its Early Access version laying a solid foundation for what could become a deeper and more expansive experience over time.
