Master Your Coordination in Swimpossible!
Arcane Cabinet Games is making a splash with its first indie release, Swimpossible!, arriving on Steam on February 18. The studio’s debut blends chaotic challenge with lighthearted charm, offering an experience that is equal parts frustrating and endearing. What begins as a cozy, whimsical journey along a river quickly turns into a test of patience and persistence, all wrapped in playful humor and a warm visual style that softens the struggle without removing it.

In Swimpossible!, players take control of Craig, an upside-down mermaid or perhaps a “maid-mer” with one clear goal: swim upstream against all odds. Each of Craig’s limbs is mapped to a different button, making even the simplest movement feel delightfully awkward at first. Learning to move is only the beginning. Players must also navigate a river full of obstacles, including ducks, worms, turtles, and whatever else the current decides to throw in the way.
Despite its chaotic controls, the game wraps Craig’s journey in a soothing audiovisual package. Cozy environmental sounds and gentle visuals contrast with the frustration of mastering movement. The story unfolds entirely without dialogue, told instead through expressive 2D comic panels that focus solely on Craig. Every run becomes its own tale, whether it’s a clumsy struggle for coordination, an intense showdown with aggressive ducks, or a surprisingly smooth speedrun or “speedswim.”
Beyond the humor and challenge, Arcane Cabinet Games aims to make a positive real-world impact. The studio will donate ten cents ($0.10) from every dollar earned on Steam to the WDC – Whale and Dolphin Conservation organization, supporting efforts to protect aquatic life.
Swimpossible! launches on February 18, offering players a strange, cozy, and unforgettable swim upstream, just don’t dry off too soon.
