Discover the Horror in Hotel Espir
Lost Souls Interactive has revealed its debut project, Hotel Espir, a single-player horror experience built around the idea that sound can be fatal. Set in rural Alabama in 1942, the game blends stealth-driven gameplay, religious symbolism, and narrative-focused puzzles to explore themes of inherited violence, guilt, and the lingering presence of the past. The game will be coming to PC via Steam in October 2026, just in time for Halloween. A playable demo is set to launch in early 2026.
Players take on the role of Charles Lemek, a traveling father racing home before the birth of his daughter. His journey leads him to Hotel Espir, an imposing century-old building with a long history of tragedy and bloodshed. What begins as a simple overnight stay quickly turns into a nightmare. The guests begin to vanish, and an unseen presence starts stalking the halls. The entity haunting the hotel cannot see, but it hears everything. Every footstep, every dropped object, and every careless movement brings danger closer.
Survival depends on patience and restraint. Players must move carefully through the hotel’s five floors, solve cryptic environmental puzzles, and decode letters. All while piecing together the dark history of the Johnson family, whose actions shaped the hotel’s curse. Death carries real weight, as dying on the lower floors ends the game permanently. This reinforces the tension and sense of vulnerability.
“We wanted to make a horror game where silence is as important as movement,” says William Kiley, Creative Director at Lost Souls Interactive. “Every sound is a risk. Every step could draw something closer.”
Built in Unity, Hotel Espir emphasizes atmosphere, slow-burning psychological tension, and character-driven storytelling, offering a horror experience focused on dread and discovery rather than sudden shocks.
