Microprose and Geoff Crammond Are Back Again
MicroProse has announced a renewed partnership with legendary developer Geoff Crammond, marking the return of one of the most influential racing series ever created. Crammond’s work defined an era of racing games in the 1990s and early 2000s, and this collaboration aims to bring that legacy back for a modern audience.
The partnership will revive Crammond’s original racing game technology through a re-release of the classic engine, updated with modern enhancements, new development tools, and full Steam Workshop support. This effort will take shape as the upcoming Geoff Crammond Racing series, consisting of GCR1, GCR2, GCR3, and GCR4, all planned for release in 2026.

These titles will launch under new names to reflect an independent creative direction. This will also ensure complete separation from any official motorsport licensing. While the branding has changed, the heart of the experience remains intact. The core simulation engine, physics systems, and pioneering gameplay concepts developed by Geoff Crammond continue to form the foundation of each game.
Crammond’s original titles helped establish many features that are now standard in racing simulations. These include advanced real-time physics and configurable driving assists. This includes ideal racing lines, steering support, and automatic braking, as well as realistic AI behaviour. Players can also expect deep telemetry analysis, detailed car setup options, and robust wet-weather systems that significantly affect racing conditions.
The GCR series builds on this heritage while opening the door to community creativity. Steam Workshop integration will allow players to create and share custom tracks, cars, liveries, teams, and drivers.
This reunion signals the start of a long-term partnership between MicroProse and Geoff Crammond. More announcements are on their way as the development continues. MicroProse is returning to racing with a clear focus on depth, authenticity, and community-driven growth.
