Haymaker Lands Its First Major Update Following the Ruff Talk Showcase

Join the Brawl in Haymaker

Haymaker has been building momentum since its launch on Meta Quest in November, delivering a raw, physics-driven take on virtual reality brawling. Now, Console Studios has revealed the game’s first major update during the Ruff Talk Showcase, introducing meaningful changes that deepen combat and raise the overall challenge.

This update focuses on three key areas that directly impact how fights unfold. Players now gain access to a new dodge-to-counter system, expanded kick options, and more capable enemies with a broader range of attacks. Together, these additions make each encounter feel more dynamic and demanding.

Dodging plays a central role in the new combat flow. Instead of relying purely on blocking, players can evade incoming strikes and immediately respond with a counterattack. This creates brief openings to regain control of a fight and rewards timing and awareness. The result is a smoother and more responsive combat experience that better highlights Haymaker’s physical interactions.

Kicks have also received a notable upgrade. Alongside the existing techniques, players can now perform roundhouse and crescent kicks. These moves extend reach, add variety to offensive options, and allow for more creative combinations during close-range encounters. The added flexibility makes fights feel less predictable and more expressive.

Enemies have not been left behind. Console Studios has expanded their movesets, giving opponents a wider selection of punches and kicks. This forces players to stay alert, adapt to new patterns, and fully engage with the updated mechanics.

Haymaker is available in Early Access on Meta Quest headsets, priced at $14.99 USD, €13.99 EUR, and £11.99 GBP. The update is available now through the Horizon Store.
