Year 2 Begins in Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown
KT Racing and NACON have unveiled the fifth season of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, kicking off Year 2 with a major free update packed with fresh content and technical upgrades. Season 5 brings back some fan-favorite features, introduces new ways to play, and refines the overall experience across all platforms.
One of the most exciting additions is the return of Taxi Missions, a classic mode beloved by longtime fans. Players can now ferry passengers across the island, racing against time while keeping their driving smooth and stylish to earn Solar Coins. Meanwhile, the glamorous Casino gets even more enticing with Poker tables, where players can test their luck and strategy to win exclusive rewards, including a unique car and custom cosmetics for both avatars and vehicles.
Under the hood, the game’s KT Engine has received a major upgrade on consoles and PC. The enhanced visuals bring sharper details, richer shadows, and improved shaders, giving the world of Solar Crown a more vibrant and realistic look. This update reflects nearly a year of development effort, with more performance improvements, especially framerate boosts, planned for future updates.
Season 5 also rebalances the in-game economy, offering players more ways to earn Solar Coins through races. The FRIM system, which rewards skillful stunt chains, now grants reputation points and Solar Pass XP with limitless redeemable prizes. A new car resale feature has also been introduced, allowing vehicles to be sold based on mileage, upgrades, and installed options.
