Spider-Man 2 Will Fix Flag Mix Up

How Spider-Man 2 Plans to Address the Flag Mix Up

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has swung into the gaming world with a wave of critical acclaim. However, as players explored the virtual streets of New York City alongside the heroic Miles Morales, an interesting issue was uncovered – the presence of what seemed to be an error related to the Puerto Rican flag. This anomaly was not limited to just Morales’ home but appeared throughout the game’s depiction of New York City.

Eagle-eyed players took to social media platforms like Reddit and Twitter to point out the inconsistency. Inside Morales’ apartment, where one would expect to see the Puerto Rican flag due to his ancestry, they discovered the Cuban flag instead. Additionally, Twitter user Sephiroth0017 noted what appeared to be the same error in various parts of the city, with the Cuban flag hanging alongside the United States flag. Another instance was observed by Twitter user CaninOxK9 inside Teo’s Grocery, where the Cuban flag was again mistaken for the Puerto Rican flag.

To the untrained eye, the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags may appear similar. However, upon closer inspection, they feature distinct color schemes and designs. The Puerto Rican flag includes a single star within a blue triangle, with red and white stripes, while the Cuban flag incorporates a red triangle with blue and white stripes.

In response to a player’s callout on Twitter regarding the error, and a request for a fix, Insomniac’s community and marketing director, James Stevenson, acknowledged the mistake and assured players that a fix was on the way. However, no specific timeline for the update’s release was provided. Players can also look forward to other updates scheduled for the PlayStation 5 exclusive, including a new game plus mode and the ability to replay missions, both expected before the end of the year.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has quickly become a record-breaking success for Sony. It was declared the “fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in PlayStation history,” selling over 2.5 million copies within the first 24 hours of its release. This achievement followed the trend of other hit Sony titles, such as God of War Ragnarok, which sold 5 million copies in a single week in 2022, and The Last of Us: Part II, which moved 4 million copies in just three days in 2020.
