These Trine Times
It has been a few years since the previous game, but Frozenbyte is returning to the Trine series in Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy. The game was announced this week in a trailer, which showed off new gameplay, as well as a new threat.
Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief, and Pontius the Knight return in A Clockwork Conspiracy. In a very Mission Impossible way, the trailer shows us that the Astral Academy has been infiltrated and is now controlled by an evil force. The villains seek to wipe out the heroes in Trine 5.
Many elements of the previous games return. The 2D platforming and puzzles mechanic are as present as ever. Our returning characters also have some new abilities. For example, Pontius, armed with his sword and shield, can now stick his sword into walls and use it as a springboard to jump higher. Zoya can use her bow and her ropes in conjunction to fire arrows while swinging.
The Trine Series is back with their biggest, most magical co-op puzzle adventure yet! ✨

This is just the announcement trailer, so hopefully there will be more opportunities down the line to show off more of the game. We shall see what is done to separate Trine 5 from previous entries in the series.
We should note that Trine 2 and 3 were self-published by Frozenbyte and the fourth game was published by Modus Games. THQ Nordic has taken over the publishing role for this installment.
Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy will be coming out this Summer. It will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
