Operation Dark Water is Here
Activision and Infinity Ward have finally released the first look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign gameplay during the Summer Game Fest event.
The new gameplay footage shows off one mission from Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, Operation Dark Water. In the new mission, the player leads his squad aboard an enemy-infested ship in the middle of the ocean and onto an extended gunfight scene. The gameplay premiere gives us a hint of what we might expect from the full campaign and just before we breach the bridge and have anything spoiled from the game’s story.
During the Summer Game Fest, Infinity Ward officially confirms that Warzone 2.0 will serve as an extension of Modern Warfare 2 that will serve as a turning point for the franchise. The studio promised more that information will be provided soon.
Activision has also confirmed that starting with Modern Warfare II, all future Call of Duty titles are going to use one engine to further unify future games for a more connected experience for all of the franchise’s fanbase. “For the first time in Call of Duty history, the team is using one unified engine across the franchise,” said Activision.
Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare and is set to release on October 28, 2022. The game is set to feature new swimming mechanics, a new gunsmith, but will still not feature a destructible environment. The game is also available for both last-gen and current-gen consoles in addition to PC, however, it is currently up for pre-order at $70 for all devices.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available for pre-order right now and it is set for release on October 28, 2022, on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.
