Bundles Are Considered Runaway Success for Humanitarian Aid
There have been some great video game bundles in the past. Some of them have been for humanitarian aid. And as of late, there have been two video game bundles that have stood out. In particular, these bundles have worked towards donating the proceeds towards humanitarian aid towards Ukraine.
One bundle was created by the digital storefront Itch.io. The other was created by Humble Bumble, which is still ongoing. Itchi.io’s bundle had started on March 7, 2022, and had nearly a thousand games to enjoy. Its estimated cost would be in the thousands but was offered at ten bucks. It was a pretty great deal, and people jumped at the chance of the Bundle.

Necrosoft Games director Brandon Sheffield, who originally made the fundraiser, had posted the goal of 100,000. But when the fundraiser ended, the goal had been completely smashed through. When the event went live, sales were just a little over 1.5 million in less than 24 hours. When it ended, they had reached $6,370,557. All proceeds will be going towards the International Medical Corps and Voices of Children.
And now, the Humble Bundle, which is currently ongoing, there are fewer items for a higher price. It’s $40 with 123 items, but this is still nothing to sneeze at. Many of these are far more mainstream. Some of the game highlights are:Â Back 4 Blood, Metro Exodus, Max Payne 3, Quantum Break, The Long Dark, Endless Space 2, Kerbal Space Program, Crying Suns, all three Amnesia games, Superhot, Broken Age, Rustler, West of Dead, System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove, and Book of Demons. Thre are also digital books such as the core rulebooks such as Pathfinder, graphic novels, as well as software creation tools, and tutorials.

It’s little wonder that in less than five hours after going live, they raised $2 million. As of this writing, they have raised $11,819,480 CAD, and will likely have raised more by the time the event ends. All funds raised will be divided between four charities: Razom for Ukraine, International Rescue Committee, International Medical Corps, and Direct Relief, with the option of those paying to opt in a greater percentage to one of the charities mentioned above.
