Getting Her Game On
The release of the PS5 is just a few hours away, and some lucky players will get their hands on the console tomorrow. A couple of people already have their hands on Sony’s newest console, mostly for review purposes, and the good news is that if you have to wait, for one reason or another, to play the PS5, the good news is that we can at least see the console in action – it just means that we have to wait a bit longer for anything substantial.
The latest game in the franchise sees returning protagonist Ethan exploring a mysterious township filled with monsters, including what looks like a coven of witches, werewolves, and a rumored giant spider.
We don’t get much information on what to expect from the story or gameplay itself – the video focuses more on Osaka’s reaction to the game, but it’s great to see her comments on not just the game, but the controllers. She gives a lot of focus to the haptic feedback, commenting on the vibrations when skidding or the controller pulsing when jumping. We also see some footage of Ethan performing a few (limited) acrobatic manouevres, like jumping from heights. These feats are nothing new to the Resident Evil series, but since Ethan’s big selling point is his relative normalcy compared to the likes of Chris or Leon, this is still notable – perhaps he wasn’t fully cured of his infection in the previous game, gifting him some superhuman qualities? We don’t know, but we’ll find out soon.
