Something that often gets forgotten when we’re comparing consoles Is console exclusives. Every PS4 gamer has had an experience where a game they’ve been interested in has only been available on Xbox One. Similarly, PlayStation have had many exclusive franchises that have drawn critical acclaim, with three of the year’s most critically acclaimed games (Final Fantasy VII Remake, The Last of Us: Part 2, and Ghost of Tsushima) all being exclusive to Sony’s console.
Don’t worry though, new converts: it was recently announced that PlayStation Plus users- a service necessary to play online- will gain access to eighteen of the PS4’s most popular games for free, available to download as soon as you set the console up. Many of the games, like The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Until Dawn are all PlayStation exclusives, and as such many people who have previously bought Xbox consoles will get the chance to play these games at no extra cost.
The full list of games included in the PlayStation Plus Collection is:
- God of War
- The Last of Us: Remastered
- Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
- Battlefield 1
- Monster Hunter World
- Fallout 4
- Final Fantasy XV
- The Last Guardian
- Ratchet and Clank
- Infamous: Second Son
- Days Gone
- Bloodborne
- Detroit: Become Human
- Batman Arkham Knight
- Mortal Kombat X
- Persona 5
- Until Dawn
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
The collection is pretty varied, with everything ranging from RPG’s, to Survival Horror, Action Adventure, and even interactive movie-style adventure games. While there’s no sports games included, for example, there are enough games listed from different genres that everyone will be able to find at least one game in the collection that appeals to them. There are some big surprises included in the collection, like the critically divisive Days Gone, but the collection really shows off the variety of games available for the console, and the level of variety we can expect in the future.
