More Than A Minute, For Example
There was a DualSense controller event for the PS5 yesterday. During the stream, a rep from Sony commented on the rumors that PS5 pre-orders were happening… now? Extremely soon? People are apparently already lining up for the console, and it’s very unclear as to why, and also how. Pre-orders aren’t live yet, is what we’re saying.
But fret not, friends! Eric Lempel, SIE’s head of global marketing, wants to assure fans that we’ll get plenty of notice for when those pre-orders do happen. “It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to at some point let you know when you can pre-order PlayStation 5, so please don’t feel like you need to go run out and line up anywhere until you receive official notice on how that’ll work.” Again, were people actually lining up for a product without a price or a release date?
While Sony has been pretty cagey about the PS5 up to this point, we can expect nothing less than a ticker tape parade once that price and release date is locked down. Rabid speculation has been doing their job for them in terms of hype generation, but I’m certain Sony will pick up the slack the moment we get those details. In other words, no one is going to be like, blindsided by the pre-order announcement.
