PlayStation Joins Microsoft To Boycott Advertising on Facebook
PlayStation announced on Thursday that it’s pulling its advertisements from Facebook for all of July in order to protest how the social media site deals with controversial political content. PlayStation joins other major companies such as Microsoft, Starbucks, and Coca-Cola that are also boycotting Facebook.
“In support of the #StopHateForProfit campaign, we have globally suspended our Facebook and Instagram activity, including advertising and non-paid content, until the end of July,” the company told GamesIndustry.biz. “We stand for working (and playing) together for good.”
The boycott campaign (which started in June) reportedly has more than 500 participants. The boycott’s goal is to make Facebook adopt stricter guidelines for content moderation.
