What Do You Want to See From Epic?Â
Epic Games was once known for cranking out a multitude of different and unique video games. However, since the launch of the Epic Games Store, the developer has taken a break on creating their own games and has largely focused on selling them instead. The new online store was set up as a direct competition to Steam. In many ways, it was fitting that they behave like Valve and virtually stop making any new games. However, this is all going to change according to Epic Games. The company has announced that they are going to be looking at getting back to what made them famous in the first place. Creating and publishing their own titles.
The indifferent approach that Valve took towards making games for the majority of the 2010s was mildly frustrating to a lot of fans. For a while, it seemed as though the company was content with just updating Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 until we all died. This has changed recently with the new release of Half-Life: Alyx, but that is an exception to the rule. It looks as though this is what Epic Games will be trying to avoid in the future.
A new label has been created called “Epic Games Publishing.” While the name might not be the most original or impressive, it is clear what they will be doing. Epic Games has spent the past year or so nabbing up smaller devs. Hopefully, this will result in some new and original games on the horizon. The sky is the limit as money is not really an issue thanks to enormous games like Fortnite on their roster. It will be interesting to see what comes from Epic Games in the coming years.
