It’s Ya Boy, Yozora
When playing Kingdom Hearts 3 and entering the Toy Box world, getting hit with that cool cinematic, did anyone else think their game was being interrupted by a Final Fantasy trailer? Well, it’s no accident that the Verum Rex commercial gives off those FF vibes. It was inspired by one of director Tetsuya Nomura’s other projects. Final Fantasy Versus XIII was a project that later turned into Final Fantasy XV. Some of the leftover plans from FF Versus XIII was used to create Verum Rex. It’s also no throwaway sequence that should be chalked up to just a “cool commercial”, as the character we saw may very well play an important part in the Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind DLC.
The “secret movie” at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3 shows Sora and Riku waking up in a strange, but very modern, recognizable world. There is also couple of other characters that show up; someone in an Organization XIII cloak known as the Mysterious Figure, and a heterochromia person, who just so turns out to be Yozora from Verum Rex. Yozora is the character in the Verum Rex commercial that began the Toy Box world and who the toys mistook Sora for. That secret movie shows that not only does Yozora exists outside the Toy Box world, but he is also connected to Sora in a deeper way.
Sora and Kairi are together again in Re Mind…
But who’s this other person…!? pic.twitter.com/OSjHestj2G

In Kingdom Hearts 3 Ultimania, which is a strategy book of sorts, an interview with Nomura was transcribed. The translation confirms these speculations. Yesterday on Twitter, some screenshots were released of Sora and Kairi in The Final World. In one of the images, someone who looks remarkably like Riku (but isn’t Riku) appears. That is Yozora, suggesting he has a bigger role to play in the DLC. Kingdom Hearts 3 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One, and the ReMind DLC will be out later this week, on January 23rd.
What do you think is the significance of Yozora? Let us know in the comments below.
