Black Ops 4 Post-Launch Free Content Revealed as PS4 Exclusivity Window Gets Smaller

Treyarch Announces Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Post-Launch Free Content

With both the Multiplayer and Blackout betas for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in our rearview we’re just a few short weeks from the full games release.  In the latest COD iteration Treyarch hopes to shake things up in a big way including how the post-launch content works. Recently Treyarch and Activision revealed exactly what fans can expect.

Unlike previous Call of Duty titles, Black Ops 4 will not have individual DLC map packs for purchase, but instead will be home to a paid season pass, as well as a bunch of free content. In the latest blog post Treyarch detailed exactly what will be coming down the pipe after the game launches including a very familiar map: Nuketown. You can check out what Treyarch had to say about it below.

“Our goal is to deliver a steady stream of content to the entire community – the most active calendar of events in our history, period. Following launch, we’ll continue to add a variety of free content for the entire community across Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout. While the specific details of each release will come as the dates are announced, here are a few examples.”

  • Nuketown: An all-new take on this fan-favorite map will be landing in November for all players to enjoy.
  • Specialists: We have a number of new Specialists already in development, with our first brand new character coming in December.
  • Blackout: There are so many places that we want to go with this game mode. The map and gameplay rules that you’ll experience at launch are just the beginning. We will continue to support the community with map updates, expansions and new Blackout modes for everyone.
  • Events: In addition to the content above, we have many seasonal and time-limited events that will deliver new game modes and content to all players.

Additionally it was confirmed by Activision that though PS4 players will receive the Black Ops 4 DLC first, the exclusivity window has been reduced from one month to one week. This means that Xbox One and PC players only have to wait one week before they have access to the same DLC content. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 12th.

Are you glad that this PS4 exclusivity window has been reduced? Are you excited about the post-launch content? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
