Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 – Familiar, Fast, and Fresh
Considering the long history of the Call of Duty franchise, it might feel a bit jarring to hear that not only will Black Ops 4 ditch the single player content – something that has been progressively shrinking over the years – but that it also feels fresh. With so many gamers – both fans of the series and those who have never played – indecisive about the more radical changes Call of Duty has taken this time around, it’s important to get some perspective on just what Black Ops 4 is promising to deliver. Our very own Garrett Drake had the opportunity to attend a reveal event and go hands-on with the game for several hours, putting together an honest and comprehensive video of his thoughts on Call of Duty, check it out below and see what he had to say about how the series is taking steps to remain fresh.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 made headlines when it was announced it would be ditching the single-player campaign in favor of the massively popular Battle Royale mode. This new direction has caused many gamers to question this step for the franchise but our initial impression is that it could very well be the breath of fresh air Call of Duty needs to truly feel new. It was also announced that automatic health regeneration has been removed in favor of health packs, adding some much-needed layers of tactics to the fold.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is set for release on October 12, and will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For more information, check out the game’s official website.
