Check Out the Turn-Based Combat in This Is the Police 2
This Is the Police 2, the sequel to the hit indie police management sim, dropped a trailer over the weekend that demonstrates the game’s new turn-based combat mode. You can see it in action down below.
The brief trailer, called ‘A Tooth for a Tooth’, showcases not only the cold frontier Fargo-like setting of Sharpwood — a stark difference from the first game’s grimy and sketchy Freeburg — but also the tactical combat featured in the game.
As the sheriff of Sharpwood’s police department, you’ll have to command your finest police officers in order to arrest suspects. Because you’re upholding the law, killing isn’t necessarily an option. According to the official description “you’ll have to carefully study the terrain, constantly adapt your plans, stealthily approach your suspects and use non-lethal weapons and equipment.” One bad move, however, can spell doom for anyone of your officers, so you’re going to want to plan your moves carefully.
Judging from the trailer, This Is the Police 2 doesn’t seem to be straying too far from the original game’s premise. In addition to managing a police station and its individual officers and skills, players will take an active part in whether the cops live or die in combat. In the first game, there was never any control over incidents that may occur over time.

This Is the Police 2 is scheduled to come out later this year on PC/Mac, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
