All three Mafia games don’t have much to do with each other story-wise (aside from a few character references here and there) so you don’t have to play them in order. Every Mafia game is set in a different era of American history. The first game is set during the 1930s while the second game is set in the 40s and 50s.

Mafia III, the most recent entry in the series, is set in 1968 and follows the story of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam War veteran who sets out on a revenge mission against an Italian mafia family that betrayed and murdered Clay’s adopted family. The game’s city is a New Orleans stand-in called “New Bordeaux” and, on the outskirts of the city, there’s a massive bayou area.

COGconnected reviewed Mafia III and gave it a score of 75 out of 100. Our reviewer, Michael Chow, praised the game for its story, combat and soundtrack but criticized it for its poor A.I., bugs, and repetitive gameplay.

“All in all, Mafia III is a good game. While there are some glaring issues with regards to glitches and game crashes, they do not take too much away from the experience,” Chow wrote.

So, are you planning on getting these games or have you already played all them? If you’ve played all of them then which one was your favorite? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section!
