Far Cry 5 is set in the fictional town of Hope County, Montana – the first time the series has been set in the United States. Hope County has been taken over by a cult known as the Chosen, extremist zealots who believe they must save the people. These zealots go to great lengths to show their power, armed with automatic weapons and going so far as to carve words like “sin” into the good people’s skin. The game originally received much backlash from the public for its portrayal of the enemy as a white, religious, North American group despite its clear cult-status.
Far Cry 5 was originally announced a year ago, probably a move on behalf of Ubisoft to get all that outrage out of the way before the game’s launch. Far Cry 5 releases on March 27, and will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more information, check out the game’s official website.
