We have broken through the halfway point of 2017 and in the first half of the year we have had a chance to see some of the most outstanding games grace our consoles and PCs. With Nintendo and Sony planning to devastate our wallets, 2017 has been an exceptional year in video games, with much more in store before the year ends. 2017 is shaping up to be the year of captivating stories across a variety of gameplay genres: with the likes of Nioh, Nier: Automata, The Legend of Zelda, Horizon Zero Dawn, and so much more. The single aspect shared by each title on this list is the fantastic narrative. These are more than just hack and slash, mindlessly repetitious games; they have soul, personality, and depth. These are the games that stand out because they are more than just video games, they are experiences.
