Obsidian Entertainment Confirms That Fallout: New Vegas 2 is Currently Not in the Works
Despite rumours earlier this week that there would be a Fallout: New Vegas 2, Obsidian Entertainment has come forward and stated that these reports are completely false. The original Fallout: New Vegas developers reached out to Kotaku, stating: “We’ve said plenty of times that we’d love to work on a Fallout again if Bethesda wanted us to, we just aren’t at this time. Right now we’re very focused on the Fig campaign to make our first ever sequel in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Whenever a new Fallout comes around though, whoever is doing it, we all look forward to playing it!”
Disappointing, but not surprising. Multiple news outlets have since debunked Frag Hero’s claims of an “insider” source. In their original article on the supposed rumour, Frag Hero took a shot at Forbes for disregarding their Red Dead Redemption 2 leak. However, the Forbes writer has defended himself spectacularly, tearing down Frag Hero’s original RDR2 piece, listing that they got mostly everything wrong and what they did get right was probably guesswork. Frag Hero also allegedly edits their past posts to increase credibility for their claims.
In a climate where media outlets are under increased scrutiny for “fake news”, we here at COGconnected will continue qualify rumours to the best of our ability and call out the BS when we see it. Until then, happy gaming!
