Terminus: Day Zero Is Coming Out on Steam for Free Next Month

Witness the Beginning of the Outbreak in Terminus: Day Zero

Not every zombie survival story is about fighting back. Terminus: Day Zero, a new free adventure from Longplay Studios, puts players in the shoes of a young girl trying to survive the first day of a zombie outbreak. The game launches on Steam on November 18 and takes place in the same universe as Terminus: Zombie Survivors, the studio’s award-winning survival roguelike that has sold over 150,000 copies on Steam.

The game follows the story of Daisy, a young girl who wakes up to find her house eerily empty. When her parents fail to answer her calls, the situation quickly turns terrifying as the undead begin breaking into her home. With no way to fight back, Daisy must rely on what she knows best: hiding spots, locked doors, and her knowledge of the neighborhood.

Survival means crawling under beds, holding her breath as zombies pass by, and hoping a closed door can keep the dead away. But hiding won’t always be enough. Eventually, Daisy must escape through familiar yards and fences as the neighborhood she once knew becomes a dangerous place.

According to lead developer Shin In-geon, the team wanted to explore the outbreak’s earliest moments through the eyes of someone who doesn’t understand what’s happening and cannot defend herself.

Unlike the original game, Terminus: Day Zero offers a self-contained story that takes around an hour to complete. Players won’t need any prior experience with the series to jump in. The game will also support English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

With its short runtime and focus on vulnerability rather than combat, Terminus: Day Zero could deliver a different kind of zombie horror. Sometimes, surviving means knowing when to hide and when to run.
