Forge Your Own Story in Outcast Tales
Hardlane Studio has announced that Outcast Tales, a party-based RPG where your companions can become lovers or sworn enemies, will launch for free on PC via Steam on October 26. Revealed during the Convergence Showcase, the game puts a fresh spin on the RPG formula by making character relationships just as important as combat.
In Outcast Tales, players assemble a crew of three outcasts and venture into a dangerous wasteland crawling with mutants and hostile desert raiders. Each character brings unique abilities and personality traits to the table, but keeping the group together might prove harder than surviving its enemies.
As the journey unfolds, party members can develop friendships, fall in love, or grow to absolutely despise one another. These shifting relationships add another layer to the game’s tactical, turn-based combat, where the right team combinations can make all the difference.
Things can get especially messy when characters with opposing worldviews share the same battlefield. A pacifist who wants to talk their way out of trouble might not appreciate a trigger-happy daredevil who prefers shooting first and asking questions later. Players’ decisions will shape these dynamics, influencing the story and potentially affecting how characters approach gameplay.
Outcast Tales also features moral choices that can strengthen relationships or drive companions apart. With different party combinations and narrative events to discover, players will have plenty of reasons to experiment with their crew across multiple runs.
If you’ve ever wanted your RPG companions to bring relationship drama alongside their combat skills, Outcast Tales might be worth adding to your Steam wishlist. Just don’t expect everyone to get along. Those eager to jump into the wasteland can check out the demo, which is available now.
