Abelina Takes Players on a Surreal Afterlife Adventure in Early 2027

Wishlist Abelina Right Now

What happens when life ends, but the journey doesn’t? Abelina aims to answer that question with a surreal platforming adventure that blends dark humor, strange creatures, and a mysterious story about life, death, and the baggage we carry. Developer Gabe Askew and publisher Indieformer have announced that the game will launch on Steam in early 2027, with a public demo arriving in November.

Abelina follows Vasily, who wakes up in a quiet settlement where residents tend their gardens and avoid thinking too much about their existence in the afterlife. However, tragedy soon shatters this peaceful routine, forcing Vasily to leave his home behind and venture into the dark frontier with a few secrets of his own.

His journey won’t be a lonely one. Each night, a former companion catches up with Vasily around the campfire, hoping to uncover the truth behind his past. As players push deeper into this strange world, they will gradually piece together the story while discovering what lies beyond the familiar settlement.

Instead of relying on combat, Abelina puts exploration and platforming front and center. Players will climb, jump, and navigate increasingly challenging environments filled with glowing pools, fluorescent plants, and winding paths that lead to bizarre new biomes.

The world is also home to some genuinely unusual creatures. Rabbit-cats lure travelers toward the shadows, giant moths glide between tree branches, and glowing goats roam the wilderness. These strange encounters add personality to the afterlife while revealing more of the game’s story through dark humor and unexpected behavior.

With its eerie atmosphere and unusual take on the afterlife, Abelina could be worth watching for players who enjoy story-driven adventures. The November demo should give curious players their first chance to see what awaits beyond the grave.
