Tape 101: Liminal Descent Launches on Steam With a Haunting Journey Through Grief

Welcome to the Unique World of Tape 101: Liminal Descent

Tunisian indie developers Suversa and Nana, working under Double H Productions, have officially launched their psychological horror game Tape 101: Liminal Descent on PC via Steam, in collaboration with Human Qube Games.

The game marks the end of a three-year development journey for the duo. They have created an unsettling experience about grief, isolation, and the strange feeling of being trapped somewhere familiar yet completely wrong.

In Tape 101: Liminal Descent, players enter a shifting liminal world filled with repetitive beige corridors, abandoned offices, cramped passageways, and rooms that seem to change in subtle ways. Instead of fighting enemies, players must observe their surroundings and figure out how the environment works.

A small RC car equipped with a camera plays an important role in exploration. Players can send it under doors, through vents, and into areas they cannot physically reach. Its camera can reveal hidden spaces, objects, mechanisms, and potential routes forward.

The game’s puzzles focus heavily on observation, timing, and understanding how different spaces connect. Meanwhile, its psychological horror comes from repetition, isolation, and distorted architecture. As well as the growing feeling that the world is no longer following familiar rules.

The story is structured around the five stages of grief from the Kübler-Ross model: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Each stage influences the game’s environments, puzzles, and overall atmosphere.

Following a public Steam playtest and a demo featured during Steam Next Fest, the developers spent additional time refining the game’s puzzles, navigation, pacing, and environmental storytelling.

With its full release now available, Tape 101: Liminal Descent promises to offer a quieter approach to horror, one where the unsettling world around you, rather than a monster chasing you, becomes the biggest source of fear.
