Pre-Order Is Now Live for Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition
A cult classic from the SEGA CD era is making a dramatic comeback, and this time it’s stepping into the ring in its best shape yet. Limited Run Games has officially announced an exclusive physical edition of Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition for PlayStation 5, with pre-orders opening today.
Originally developed by Digital Pictures, Prize Fighter became one of the most memorable full-motion video boxing games of the 1990s. Instead of watching from ringside, players become an ambitious young contender, fighting their way through the heavyweight division in pursuit of championship glory.

The devs at Screaming Villains rebuilt the remastered Heavyweight Edition for modern hardware, delivering enhanced 4K video, smoother gameplay, refined mechanics, and several quality-of-life improvements. The release also includes bonus content designed to celebrate the game’s unique FMV legacy while giving both newcomers and longtime fans a fresh reason to jump back into the action.
Collectors won’t want to miss this one. Limited Run Games is releasing the title as a numbered physical edition, complete with a premium game case, high-resolution cover art, the PlayStation 5 disc, and an eight-page collectible booklet. The edition is priced at $29.99.
Pre-orders begin on September 1, 2026, and will remain open until October 4, 2026, after which the physical edition will no longer be available to order.
Whether you’re revisiting a nostalgic favorite or discovering it for the first time, Prize Fighter: Heavyweight Edition looks ready to prove that some champions never stay down for long. The game is also available digitally on PC via Steam, so make sure to check it out.
