Lootborne Launches on Steam With a Brutal Twist on the Idle RPG Formula

Begin Your Journey in Lootborne

Lootborne has officially arrived on Steam, and it’s looking to shake up the idle desktop genre with a surprisingly hardcore RPG experience, competitive PvP, and a Steam Community Market built to keep bot abuse in check.

Following the indie success of TBH: Task Bar Hero, it embraces the idea of being a game that lives on your desktop. Your champion battles automatically while you work or browse, but don’t mistake it for a passive experience. Progress depends on carefully managing your inventory, forging stronger gear, brewing potions, and crafting the perfect build to survive increasingly difficult encounters.

What sets Lootborne apart is its emphasis on strategy over endless grinding. Simply leaving the game running won’t carry you through every challenge. Tougher stages force players to rethink equipment, swap perks, and experiment with new combinations before sending their hero back into battle.

The full release packs plenty of depth, featuring 424 unique items, six rarity tiers, five elemental affinities, 26 perks, and 25 potions that open the door to countless build possibilities.

The launch also introduces ranked PvP, one of the community’s most requested features. Players can climb the competitive ladder through MMR-based matchmaking or challenge friends directly via Steam for bragging rights.

Meanwhile, the Steam Community Market remains intentionally limited. The developers say trading is meant to complement progression, not replace it, with safeguards that prevent the market from becoming a shortcut while helping keep bots at bay.

If you’ve been waiting for an idle game with real build-crafting and meaningful progression, Lootborne might be one of Steam’s most intriguing new releases.
