Prepare to Get on Board the Dark Rail
JanduSoft has teamed up with Spanish solo developer Steam Veil Games to bring Dark Rail to all major platforms, with the dark management roguelike currently scheduled to launch in Q4 2026. Ahead of its release, players can already get an early look at the game through a brand-new demo available during Steam Train Fest.

Dark Rail puts players in charge of the Inquisition in a grim industrial city located on the edge of the Empire. Your primary goal is to maintain social order by managing resources, maintaining order, and ensuring that prisoner transport quotas are met. At the same time, you’ll send inquisitors on dangerous train expeditions to track down heretics and battle terrifying monsters lurking beyond the city’s borders.
The game combines turn-based strategy, city management, and roguelike mechanics, creating a campaign where every expedition and decision shapes the outcome. Players will recruit and train inquisitors, unlock new abilities, expand their headquarters, and make difficult choices that influence the survival of both the city and the Empire.
As unrest grows and madness spreads among the population, the pressure to keep the trains running becomes even greater. Every resource spent and every mission undertaken carries consequences, forcing players to balance efficiency, survival, and morality throughout their journey.
With its dark setting, strategic gameplay, and emphasis on meaningful choices, Dark Rail looks set to offer a fresh take on the management roguelike genre. The newly released demo should give strategy fans a solid preview of what awaits before the game’s full launch later this year.
