The anticipation is over for all the high-speed motorcycle simulator fans! LANESPLIT has officially entered the world of virtual reality with the release of its VR update today. Developed by solo creator FunkyMouse, the game now offers players a more immersive way to weave through dense traffic, alongside a substantial free content update available on PC via Steam.
With the new VR mode, players can experience the rush from a true first-person perspective, placing them directly behind the handlebars. The update expands the game’s lineup to 16 high-performance motorcycles, including two newly introduced electric bikes, each designed with distinct handling, traction, and speed characteristics. The challenge remains simple yet intense: dodge traffic, avoid collisions, and climb the global leaderboards.
The update also introduces dynamic weather conditions, with thunderstorms adding a new layer of difficulty by turning roads slick and unpredictable. Combined with a drum-and-bass soundtrack that builds alongside your speed, the experience becomes both thrilling and immersive. Crashes bring everything to a sudden halt, complete with ragdoll physics that send riders flying.
Players can ride solo, compete in multiplayer, or choose from a roster of customizable characters, including new additions inspired by real-world riders like Brian636, CyborgAngel, and GhostRider. Modes such as Rush Hour and Zen Mode offer contrasting gameplay styles, from intense traffic navigation to calm, open-road cruising.
“Motorcycle POV videos from Brian636, CyborgAngel, and GhostRider were a huge inspiration for this content update,” said Shakya Ranatunga, founder and solo developer at FunkyMouse. “While the first-person camera angle already lends itself to flow-state gameplay, VR takes the riding experience to another level.”
