Survive a Zombie Apocalypse in Cute & Dead
Deep Type Games, the studio behind Hellsplit: Arena, has officially revealed its next project, Cute & Dead, a fast-paced VR shooter that blends chaotic zombie combat with some unexpected twists. The game mixes classic arcade-style action with modern virtual reality design, creating an experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly different.
In Cute & Dead, players step into the shoes of a nerdy schoolkid trying to survive a zombie apocalypse. But survival isn’t the only goal here. Along the way, you’ll rescue classmates, build connections, and even find time for a bit of romance. It’s a quirky setup that gives the game its unique personality, combining action-heavy gameplay with collectible elements and light dating-sim features.
The combat is quick and energetic, throwing players into intense encounters against a variety of enemies. There are eight different maps to explore, each filled with danger, alongside ten weapon types ranging from improvised tools to more powerful gear. Players can also rely on a loyal dog companion who fights alongside them in battle.
Adding to its charm, the game features 30 characters to meet and rescue, along with moments that break away from combat, including dancing at a club and interacting with other survivors.
Cute & Dead is set to launch on the Meta Store in July 2026 for Quest devices, with a PCVR release on Steam planned for later in the year. While there’s no confirmation for PSVR2 yet, the developers haven’t ruled it out. It’s an unusual mix of action and humor, but that’s exactly what makes it stand out.
