Failure Is the Only Way to Success in Fail Fail Succeed
Independent developer The Notlanders has officially confirmed that Fail Fail Succeed will launch on Steam on May 12, 2026. The announcement follows a well-received public demo that drew strong feedback from a dedicated niche of players, building steady anticipation for the full release.

Fail Fail Succeed places players in a strange, dreamlike world where they control an anonymous figure guided by a dog toward what seems to be the only way out. Progress is anything but straightforward. The path forward is filled with difficult traps that appear impossible to overcome at first. The game’s central idea turns failure into a core mechanic. Each time the player fails, they leave behind a block and gain the ability to transform into it, gradually creating a path forward. Every mistake becomes a useful tool, shaping both the level and the strategy needed to progress.
The full version builds on the foundation laid by the demo, adding more complex puzzles, new variations to its mechanics, and a stronger sense of progression. Despite these additions, the experience maintains a calm and reflective tone that defines its identity.
At a deeper level, the game reflects the personal journey of its solo developer, Martin Zetterman. Its design draws inspiration from cycles of struggle and recovery, weaving this theme into both gameplay and narrative.
With its unique concept and thoughtful design, Fail Fail Succeed stands out as a puzzle experience that turns repeated failure into meaningful progress.
