The Return of 70s-Style Robot Anime Geppy-X
Bliss Brain Corporation and Implicit Conversions have confirmed that 70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X Hi-Res Remastered Edition will launch worldwide on July 16, 2026. The title will be available across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Store, and Steam, bringing a long-lost cult classic to modern platforms.
Originally released only in Japan in 1999, Geppy-X stood out as one of the most ambitious anime shooters of the CD-ROM era. This new edition not only upgrades the visuals but also introduces a thoughtful preservation feature. Players can now switch between the HD remastered animation and the original footage sourced from Betacam tapes, allowing both a polished and authentic viewing experience within the base game.
The game continues to present itself like a retro anime broadcast, complete with opening sequences, eyecatches, and next-episode previews. Players take control of three pilots commanding a transforming robot to defend Earth, while switching between three combat forms that balance speed, power, and precision. As the story progresses, the robot evolves, unlocking stronger abilities.
While the original difficulty remains intact, modern features such as rewind, quick save, rapid fire, and CRT filters make the experience more accessible. The remaster also preserves the original voice cast and soundtrack, featuring well-known names and iconic anime theme performers from the era.
Beyond the main story, additional modes and alternate scenarios add replay value, positioning this as the most complete version of the game to date.
With its blend of retro style and modern enhancements, Geppy-X Hi-Res Remastered Edition feels less like a simple re-release and more like a carefully restored piece of gaming history.
