Packmates 1.0 Launches on Steam, Bringing Co-Op Roguelite Adventure to Life

Embark On an Epic Adventure in Packmates

Indie developer Digital Confectioners has officially launched Packmates in its full 1.0 version on Steam today, bringing the cooperative roguelite experience to all players. After a period of development and iteration, the game now arrives as a complete package, shaped by community feedback and expanded gameplay systems.

Packmates places players in the paws of small woodland creatures such as raccoons, wolves, and cats, sending them out on dangerous but charming adventures. At the heart of the experience is a unique backpack system, where every item chosen and placed directly influences strategy. Careful planning becomes essential, as limited inventory space forces players to think ahead and adapt to each run’s challenges.

The game supports both solo play and cooperative sessions, with teamwork playing a central role in survival. Each expedition blends risk and coordination, encouraging players to experiment with item combinations and support one another when situations spiral out of control. This balance between preparation and unpredictability gives each run a distinct feel.

The 1.0 release builds on years of refinement, adding more progression options, greater content variety, and a more polished cooperative experience.

“From the beginning, the idea was simple: surviving an adventure should start with packing your bag,” said Bryce, developer at Digital Confectioners. “Players connected with the charm of animals setting out together, but what kept them coming back was the tension of finding the right items to bring, where to place them for item synergies, and how to work as a team when things go wrong.”

Overall, Packmates delivers a focused and engaging roguelite built around teamwork, strategy, and replayability.
