Set in the late 19th century, Cult Vacui blends classical point-and-click mechanics with survival horror elements, placing players on the remote Isle of Barra in Scotland. The story follows an unsuspecting janitor who arrives at the isolated summer estate of the Gladstone family, only to uncover a horrifying truth. Just a day before his arrival, a fanatical cult carried out a gruesome blood ritual that wiped out the island’s population. However, the ritual remains incomplete, and the player unknowingly becomes the final piece standing in its way.
The game unfolds over a limited timeframe, giving players only a few in-game hours to act before the ritual reaches its conclusion. Exploration plays a key role, as players must search the island for resources, uncover clues, and plan their next moves carefully.
