Space Engineers 2 vs2.2 Update Finally Adds Weapons and Mechanical Blocks

Many New Features Await in Space Engineers 2

Space Engineers 2 has rolled out its Major Update VS2.2 for the Alpha, bringing a substantial wave of new systems that deepen building, combat, and survival gameplay. Developer Keen Software House continues to expand the sandbox with features that give players more control over how they design, explore, and engage with the game’s universe.

The highlight of this update is the introduction of Mechanical Blocks, including rotors and pistons, which open up more advanced engineering possibilities. Alongside this, the first phase of weapons and basic combat systems has been implemented. This allows players to arm their creations and face hostile threats. Building has also seen meaningful upgrades, with tools like Area Welding and an early version of Production Lines streamlining large-scale construction and manufacturing.

The update also enhances exploration across the Almagest System by adding new moons, asteroid rings, and resource-rich clusters for players to discover. It also improves environmental variety by introducing planetary events and dynamic weather. In addition, it lays the foundation for an in-game economy by introducing trading, credits, and contracts that encompass combat scenarios and complex engineering tasks.

Other additions include customizable controls, suit oxygen survival mechanics, cargo ships, and collectible datapads scattered throughout the world.

Looking ahead, VS2.3 will introduce wheels, hinges, and more automation systems. Future milestones include water mechanics in VS3 and the arrival of NPCs and cooperative multiplayer in VS4. The game remains in Early Access, with further updates planned based on community feedback.
