Escape the Office in Backrooms Anomaly
Indie developer Liminal Games has announced that Backrooms Anomaly will launch on PC via Steam on April 6, 2026. Players can wishlist the game now and dive into a playable demo ahead of its full release, offering an early taste of its unsettling atmosphere and psychological tension.
Backrooms Anomaly is a first-person psychological horror experience built around a simple but nerve-wracking idea: observation is your only means of survival. You find yourself trapped inside a looping office corridor that refuses to obey the rules of reality. As you move through the space, a hazmat-suited warden patrols the halls, silently reinforcing the sense that you do not belong there. The environment constantly shifts, and noticing those changes is the key to escaping.
Each run challenges you to study your surroundings with extreme care. A misplaced object, altered signage, or a subtle distortion in the environment could signal an anomaly. When something feels off, you must turn back to the entrance and report it. If everything appears normal, you can cautiously move toward the exit. The catch is unforgiving: only ten correct decisions in a row will finally break the loop and set you free.
With its oppressive atmosphere, minimal interface, and reliance on player perception rather than combat, Backrooms Anomaly turns paranoia into a core mechanic. The game asks a haunting question: Will you spot enough anomalies to escape, or will you fade into the endless corridors forever?
