Top 10 Upcoming VR Games in 2026

Top 10 Upcoming VR Games in 2026

Despite the general gloom and doom that pervades the Gaming Industry, 2025 saw a lot of good games released. This is true for not flat games but VR games too. As a niche market, VR is still trying to gain a foothold with the mass market, so VR games continue to receive little to no media exposure.

For VR gamers, 2025 was a surprisingly exceptional year as there were more VR games to play than ever before. It was a bumper crop of great VR titles including Hitman: World of Assassination with a VR Mode on PSVR 2, Arken Age, Of Lies and Rain, The Midnight Walk, Lumines Arise, VRacer Hoverbike – (the Wipeout game we’ve been waiting for on PSVR 2), Ghost Town, and bequest VR. Many of these are titles flat gamers will never have heard of, but they are all brilliant games.

After an unexpectedly stacked year of great VR titles, we look eagerly ahead at 2026. As with other years, it’s the indie studios that carry VR, but there are always a few heavy hitters that get released too. Plus, with the impending release of Valve’s new VR headset, the Steam Frame, VR may receive a little more media coverage. Especially if Valve times the hardware release with a hoped-for new game in the Half Life universe. So, here is a list of the top ten 2026 VR Games that COGConnected is looking forward to.

10 – Bootstrap Island VR (Steam, PSVR 2)

Who doesn’t want a pirate game in VR? Arrr! And a survival game at that! Already available on Steam, Bootstrap Island is coming to PSVR 2 as a 2026 VR Game.

9 – Automa (Steam, Meta, PSVR 2)

If you are going to borrow, borrow from the best. That is exactly what Automa is doing with their Half Life Alyx inspired game. Set in a near-future world where fears of AI domination are beginning to come true, autonomous forces have seized control of a Southeast Asian city. AUTOMA emphasizes believable physics and intuitive interactions. Automa is another 2026 VR Game.

8 – The Boys Trigger Warning VR (Meta, PSVR 2)

Media tie-in games often fall flat, but this one has several factors in its favor. The game is being developed by the Brazilian studio Arvore, which did the great Pixel Ripped VR series of games. They have worked hand-in-hand with the show’s creators and have procured some actors to lend their voices. Making appearances are Laz Alosno as Mother’s Milk, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, P.J. Byrne as Adam Bourke, and Jensen Ackles as alternate, demented Soldier Boy. Arvore promises the game will embrace the dark and violent nature of the show.

7 – Star Trek Infection (Steam, Meta)

Another tie-in game, Star Trek: Infection, is an intense full-body VR, narrative survival experience set in the iconic Star Trek universe. In Star Trek: Infection, players step into the boots of a Vulcan Starfleet officer tasked with a covert mission aboard the U.S.S. Lumen, where things quickly spiral into a psychological and physical nightmare.

6 – TMNT Empire City VR (Meta, PSVR 2)

Joining the ranks of not only media tie-ins but superhero games is a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game. This time in VR, like Batman and Deadpool before it. TMNT takes place after the death of their mortal enemy, Shredder.
Get behind the bandana as the iconic heroes in a half shell, stalking the sewers, streets, and rooftops as Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, or Michelangelo in the first-ever Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that takes YOU into the shell. You’ve killed the Shredder, igniting a war for his empty throne. In the vacuum left by Shredder’s demise, the Foot Clan’s grip tightens on the streets you call home. It’s time to reclaim what’s yours.

5 – Gunman Contracts – Stand Alone(Steam, PSVR 2)

With its origins in the popular Half-Life: Alyx mods “Gunman Contracts—Chapter 1 & Chapter 2”, “Gunman Contracts — Stand Alone” takes the action to the next level with a completely new, from-the-ground-up developed single-player experience.
Gunman Contracts—Stand Alone is an intense, action-movie-inspired shooter playable in both VR and non-VR (First Person Shooter). As a highly trained professional hitman – known and feared as the Gunman – the player takes on ruthless forces in the criminal underworld, serving justice in places beyond the reach of the law … one contract at a time.

4 – EXD – Extradimensional (Steam, Meta)

This one appeared out of nowhere and has a Duke Nuke’em vibe about it.
You are Max Ventura, an ordinary delivery guy working for Megazon. When a dimensional rift tears through your warehouse, everything changes. You enter Erath, a fantasy world tainted by ancient relics from Earth.
Armed with the Quantum Glove and the powers granted by the Dimensional Guardians, you must journey across a realm of dragons, mutant creatures, and magic.
Recover lost Earth artifacts, grow stronger, survive deadly traps, and uncover the truth about the First Chosen, a mysterious figure who failed the same mission long before you.

3 – 2026 VR Game? Half Life 3 (Steam)

Okay, okay! I know this is a pipe dream. Valve has announced nothing about there being a Half Life 3 game, much less one in VR. But with the launch of their new VR Headset – the Steam Frame – this year, what better time to launch a new Half Life game? If they do, then I’m betting that Half Life 3 will be playable in both flat and VR modes. Fingers real and virtual, crossed!

2 – Aces of Thunder VR (Steam, Meta, PSVR 2)

Aces of Thunder has been scheduled to launch for a couple of years now, but the latest launch date looks to be locked in for this 2026 VR game. Fully playable in VR, the game has expanded to include a single-player campaign as well as not just World War II but also World War I battles.
The game developers derived the game’s physically accurate flight and damage models from the popular War Thunder military action game to ensure a high level of realism. The battles take place only from the cockpit view to provide ultimate immersion and fully support HOTAS controls.

1 – Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (PC, PSVR 2)

This is the biggie! Not only has MSFS come to PlayStation but sometime this year it will be playable on the PSVR 2! PlayStation fans will benefit from having MSFS on the PS5, as it sets the standard for flight simulators. Even better is getting it in VR! VR is perfect for simulations where you are in an enclosed area such as a cockpit, so sims for space flight, racing, and airplanes really shine.

These are the top 2026 VR games that pique my interest. There are even more games coming. And who knows, maybe Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate will receive its last patch this year!

Thank you for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
