Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest Is Coming to Switch and Steam on 10th February

Escape Your Subconsciousness in Prisoning Fletcher’s Quest

Newly revived publisher Acclaim has teamed up with Swedish indie studio Elden Pixels to announce that The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest will launch on Nintendo Switch and Steam on February 10, 2026. The announcement marks another high-profile release for Elden Pixels, the studio best known for Alwa’s Legacy and A Void Hope.

The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest is a darkly comedic Metroidvania that dives deep into the fractured psyche of Fletcher Howie Jr., a game developer pushed to the edge during the final, punishing stages of a massive project. What begins as a routine post-crunch therapy session quickly spirals out of control, leaving Fletcher trapped inside his own subconscious. From there, players must guide him through a surreal mental landscape shaped by stress, fear, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion.

To celebrate the release date reveal, Acclaim has also unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer showcasing Fletcher’s bizarre inner world. The footage highlights hazard-filled environments, fast-paced platforming, towering boss encounters, and plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor as Fletcher battles manifestations of his emotional baggage. Each area of this “mental prison” reflects the pressures of burnout, blending comedy with an uncomfortably relatable narrative.

Described as a Metroidvania “drenched in anxiety,” The Prisoning draws inspiration from very real experiences within game development. Then transforms them into an imaginative and self-aware adventure. With tight exploration, expressive pixel art, and a story that balances humor with introspection, the game challenges players to help Fletcher confront his inner demons.

Escape the mind, break the cycle, and help Fletcher Howie Jr. reclaim his sanity when The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest launches next month.
